Wake Surfing at Lake of the Ozarks

Wake surfing is the most accessible and addictive watersport we offer at BT Wake Experience, and Lake of the Ozarks is the perfect place to discover it. Imagine riding a continuous wave just feet behind the boat, no rope in your hands, carving and gliding with nothing but the wave beneath you. That is what wake surfing delivers, and our professional coaches make sure you get there faster than you think possible.

The concept is straightforward: our specially designed wake boat creates a large, surfable wave on one side of the hull. You start in the water holding a tow rope while the boat accelerates to a low speed, usually around 10 to 12 miles per hour. Once you are standing on the board and riding the wave pocket, you toss the rope back to the boat and surf freely. The wave is endless as long as the boat keeps moving, so your ride lasts as long as your legs hold up. Beginners typically get their first ropeless ride within 15 to 20 minutes of instruction, and experienced riders can practice tricks, cutbacks, and aerial maneuvers all session long.

Wake surfing works for nearly every age and fitness level. Because the speed is low and you are always close to the boat, it feels safe and controlled from the first attempt. We welcome riders as young as 8 years old, families looking for a group activity, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate outings, and solo riders chasing a new thrill. Lake of the Ozarks offers warm water temperatures from May through September, sheltered coves for glassy conditions, and enough open water for uninterrupted sets. Every session includes all boards, life jackets, and equipment. Our coaches stay in the water with beginners and call adjustments from the boat for advanced riders.
