Foil Surfing at Lake of the Ozarks

Foil surfing is one of the most exhilarating watersports on the planet, and Lake of the Ozarks is one of the best places to try it. Whether you have never touched a board before or you are an experienced surfer looking for the next challenge, foil surfing delivers a feeling that nothing else on the water can match.

So how does it work? A hydrofoil board has a wing-shaped fin mounted beneath it on a mast. As the boat pulls you forward and you build speed, the foil generates lift and the board rises completely out of the water. You glide one to three feet above the surface with almost no drag and no chop. The sensation is smooth, quiet, and surprisingly stable once you find your balance. Our coaches walk you through every step, from water starts to your first full flight, so you build confidence fast. Most riders are up and foiling within their first session.

Foil surfing is for anyone who wants to push beyond traditional wake sports. It works well for athletic beginners who want a physical challenge, experienced wake surfers who want to level up, and anyone who craves the sensation of hovering above the water. Lake of the Ozarks provides the ideal conditions for foiling: warm water from May through September, consistent boat traffic that creates varied wake patterns, and miles of open lake surface to ride. Sessions run approximately one hour and include all equipment, safety gear, and hands-on instruction. We recommend ages 12 and up for foil surfing.
